I was inspired to create MomTalAid out of a deep sense of compassion and empathy. The seed of this vision was planted when I witnessed the heart-wrenching plea of our family driver to my father for an advance on his salary, desperate to afford the final rites for his deceased child and give them a dignified farewell according to his religious customs. It was a poignant moment, one that stirred within me a profound realization of the struggles faced by many like our driver, unable to afford basic necessities during times of crisis. As my father extended his generosity, offering not just financial aid but also initiating the idea of a donation drive to support others in similar predicaments at CPG hospital, I felt a stirring within me to take action. Recognizing that the plight of our family driver was not isolated, and that there were many others in need of assistance, I embarked on this journey in 2019. Gathering support from friends and engaging with the hospital's leadership, including the CEO/CTO, we set out to develop a platform that would serve as a bridge between donors and patients in need. After three years of dedication and hard work, our efforts bore fruit in 2022, surpassing our expectations as we raised over a million Kenyan shillings to aid hundreds of patients. The culmination of our project marked not only a personal achievement but also a significant milestone for the community. The impact of our initiative extended beyond the confines of MomTalAid, as the code developed by our team became the intellectual property of CPG hospital. Leveraging this technology, a beacon of hope was cast across other government organizations, including government banks and various services, all aimed at providing donation-based support to those in need. In retrospect, what began as a response to a singular plea for help blossomed into a collaborative effort that continues to touch and transform lives, exemplifying the power of compassion and collective action.
